Tough Times, good results

SWEDEN: There’s evidently a sales value to equipping your staff with knowledge, so they in turn can better service customers.
High demand for SCA Timber Supply’s fast-track timber courses in the past 12 months has resulted in no less than three recent trips to its Swedish forests and sawmills for successful groups graduates from among its builders merchant customers.
Guests from ProSkills, the sector skills council, and from the Timber Trade Federation also joined one of the three merchant trips, alongside winners of last year’s SCA sponsored TTJ Career Development Awards.
“Providing a better level of customer service than your competitors marks your business out from the crowd and lifts the self esteem and loyalty of staff,” says SCA’s sales & marketing director Stephen King. “We see the results each year in the entries for the industry’s Career Development Awards.”
The 2012 Career Development Awards, presented in September, will open for entries on 26th May.
