Harleston buys Tubs and Tiles and Heat Merchants

Published:  23 April, 2012

DUBLIN: Heat Merchants and Tubs and Tiles, which have both gone into liquidation, have been sold to heating and plumbing suppliers Harleston.

The businesses were part of BHT Group, which went into examinership on 16 February. BHT exited the examinership process last week with the High Court appointing Kieran Wallace of KPMG as liquidator to the group.

Thirty-two of the 36 Heat Merchants' retail outlets were acquired as part of the transaction along with seven of the co-located Tubs and Tiles outlets and five standalone Tubs and Tiles outlets. They will continue to trade as normal.

Customers who have deposits with Heat Merchants or Tubs and Tiles will have their deposits honoured by the new owners.

The future for Brooks builders’ merchants, also part of BHT, is likely to be decided by the liquidator next week. Company directors said that a further statement on the remaining Brooks' business was "expected in the near term".
