NEWTOWN ABBEY: Bassetts, plumbing, heating and bathrooms merchant, and JP Corry, builders' merchant, are in a fund raising partnership with the Northern Ireland Hospice, Foyle Hospice and Southern Area Hospice Services recently.

Staff from Bassetts, which has a branch in Mallusk, and JP Corry presented the Hospices with sunflowers for patients to symbolise support for the Together charity campaign in aid of Help the Hospices.

The campaign, set up by parent company, Saint-Gobain in 2002 has raised £1.6m to date.

Robert McGookin, manager of Bassetts' Mallusk branch said: "It's a great opportunity to bring people together and do something worthwhile outside of our day to day roles. We're already planning a bowling night which will involve three local Bassetts branches getting together to raise money."
