Family building firm collapses

SHEFFIELD: Family owned builder, Watfords of Wombwell, has ceased trading.

Accountants Hart Shaw LLP, has been instructed to assist the directors of Watfords in placing the company into voluntary liquidation.

Meetings of members and creditors will take place on 21 February when the company's dealings will be wound up officially.

The family business dates back to 1934. Employees included bricklayers, ground workers, joiners, plasterers, plumbers and decorators, which enabled the company to offer a full service to its clients.

The majority of the workforce was declared redundant on 30 January with a few employees being retained for a period to complete some outstanding jobs and ensure that customers are not let down.
