BIRMINGHAM: The Totally Shows will be welcoming three true industry experts to the Retail Tool Box stage this year.

Mick Weedon, deputy chief executive and communications director of the British Independent Retailer Association (bira); Daniel Fearnley, business group director within the retail and technology division at GfK, and Steve Collinge, commercial director of the Insight Retail Group.

Mr Weedon will speak at 11am on Sunday, 5 February and 11.15am on Monday, 6 February at the Retail Tool Box presentation area in the heart of the show. His presentation, 'Future Prospects For The UK's High Streets' will review the work already carried out by bira and its members in support of the recent Mary Portas report to Government on how the UK's high streets should be supported. In addition, Mr Weedon will cover what action is likely to be forthcoming following the report, and what role bira will continue to play in this key issue.

Mr Collinge will speak at 2.45pm on Sunday and Monday, and at 12.20pm on Tuesday. His presentation, 'Innovation Out Of Recession', will highlight all the various ways in which a company can grow, despite the tough trading conditions. Mr Collinge has spent many years working in the DIY industry, so his comments are totally focused on the DIY sector and the particular challenges it faces.

Mr Fearnley joins the show on Tuesday, and will speak at 11am and 2.45pm. As the business group director for GfK retail and technology, he has over 12 years of market research experience and works with retailers and manufacturers across the market sectors of DIY, home improvement, garden and automotive. His presentation, 'State Of The DIY Nation 2011 And What Does 2012 Have In Store?' will take a look back over the numbers and what happened to consumer confidence in 2011, review the successes of 2011 and look at the opportunities for 2012.

The speakers will be joined by some fantastic product demonstrators from Shurtape, Bartoline, Karcher, Worx Pro, Metalcoat, EG Int, 100 Whats? and CEL, all showing off new and exciting products from the show.

In addition, the shows' Best New Product Awards will be announced on Sunday evening and displayed in the Retail Tool Box, and Insight DIY has sponsored the Insight Cafe so that visitors can grab a coffee whilst they listen in.
