Brandon Hire buys Phoenix

BRISTOL: Brandon Hire has bought Phoenix Surveying Equipment. Phoenix has 50 staff, five depots with a head office in Yate, and hires, sells and repairs surveying equipment.

Tim Smith, managing director, Brandon Hire said: "Despite the difficult economic climate, Brandon Hire has delivered a strong performance in the past 12 months and this latest acquisition is just another sign that we are continuing to look for new opportunities for growth.

"The fact that we are both based in the Bristol area and work in similar markets means that there are some real advantages for our customers. Phoenix is a great company with an excellent reputation.

"Key to its success is its product strength and its people, who are experts at what they do, which is why we are so excited about this deal."

Brandon Hire, which was sold by builders' merchant chain Wolseley in 2010, had a pre-tax profit of £7m on a £103m turnover for the 17 months to 31 December 2010.
