Industry welcomes birth of Xylem water solutions firm

Published:  14 December, 2011

AXMINSTER: On 1 November Xylem was launched following the spin-out of the three divisions of ITT Corporation (USA) to form three new standalone businesses.

Xylem is a new water technology company that incorporates a number of existing companies including ITT Water & Wastewater and brands; Flygt, Godwin, Leopold, Sanitaire and Wedeco as well as sister company Lowara.

Combining the products, services and experience of these market leading brands will allow Xylem to offer complete water solutions within the UK’s municipal, industrial, residential and commercial water markets.

Peter Lewington, managing director for Xylem UK, commented: “Changing the structure of ITT Corporation will allow us to move forward as a standalone company that is focused exclusively on water.”

With the industry’s broadest range of submersible and diesel-driven pumps and extensive treatment capabilities, Xylem now brings to the marketplace a powerful combination of leading brands, products, services and applications expertise, backed by a legacy of innovation and strong customer relationships.

Mr Lewington concluded: “From our new position as a standalone company, Xylem will be able to leverage its shared history of innovation to offer a more dedicated service to both new and existing customers. Furthermore, we can capitalise on new opportunities within our market to continually expand our portfolio of solutions in line with the very latest industry technologies.

“We are constantly bringing new and exciting products to the market, like Wedeco’s latest Quadron medium UV disinfection system and the recent addition of Godwin’s portfolio of submersible hydraulic and dri-prime pumps. As this positive change takes hold we remain dedicated to optimising water quality and access on a global scale, developing customer partnerships along the way.”
