Awards hat-trick for LBS Builders' Merchants

CARMARTHEN: LBS Builders' Merchants scored what it said was "an incredible hat-trick" at the Builders’ Merchants Awards for Excellence 2011, as well as scooping two awards from the Swansea Bay Business Partnership on the same night.
At the Builders' Merchants Awards for Excellence, LBS staff member Andy Nicholas was recognised as Best Trainee, and then LBS went on to receive top honours for Best Customer Service, and then Best Independent Builders' Merchant (6+ branches) for the second year running, an incredible achievement for the Llandeilo based company.
At the Swansea Bay Business Partnership Awards held at the Brangwyn Hall on Friday 25 November, LBS managing director Mark Davies was honoured with the Leadership and Management in Business award, and then LBS went on to receive the top honour of Business of the Year 2011.
LBS has branches throughout South West Wales. "We're on course to achieve market-leading growth in a declining market, expanding East across South Wales, employing new staff and focusing on staff training to offer invaluable product knowledge and excellent levels of customer service," said Mr Davies. LBS also supports the local community by donating and supplying building materials for charities and organisations such as ConstructionSkills Wales.
Mr Davies said: “To receive recognition from our peers in the region, and then for LBS to be named Swansea Bay Business of the Year is a wonderful honour. We are proud to have two branches in the dynamic city of Swansea, and are grateful for the support shown to us by our customers and the business community.
“To then follow this up with national recognition, with the news that not only had Andy been rewarded for his hard work, but that we had won the top two awards at the Builders' Merchants Awards for Excellence was greeted with tremendous excitement and pride across all our branches.
"We are extremely grateful to all our customers, large and small, trade and public, for giving us their valuable custom as without them we wouldn’t have a business. While we are meeting our strategic targets for sustainable growth, which is linked to excellent levels of customer service provided by our staff, to have this work recognised by our industry peers is very special."
