LONDON: Construction companies are hoping that the Chancellor's Autumn statement at on 29 November will be a defining moment in terms of future work, according to Construction Enquirer.

Contractors are banking on the Government announcing plans for a £50bn boost for the construction industry, including social housing work.

One contracting boss told the Enquirer that the industry had experienced bad news for a long time and that investment in construction was "vital to start the industry thinking positively again".

The Government has pledged to revamp PFI and has been briefing widely about plans to pump private funds into infrastructure and social housing work.
