Plumb deal for Reading Abbey rugby lads

Published:  14 November, 2011

READING: Plumber's merchant Graham is sponsoring Reading Abbey under-17 rugby team for the second time - this time funding shirts.

The deal allows the rugby lads to play the sport in a new set of playing shirts in the club's traditional green and blue hoops.

Reading Abbey RFC under-17s Coach Gordon Wylie told the local Reading newspaper: "We can't thank Grahams enough. Money's tight these days and to have a shirt sponsor come up the way they did makes all the difference. This is the second time they've sponsored us and I hope it is good for them because it is definitely good for us. Having proper playing shirts makes all the difference to the boys. It injects a note of professionalism and makes them feel better and you see it on the pitch."

Graham's said: "As a business we like to keep involved in local sports. Two of three of our customers' sons play for the Reading Abbey team and it is good for us to sponsor a local team. Rugby teaches youngsters discipline and helps to keep them on the straight and narrow. That's something we want to support and get involved with."
