ESSEX: IronmongeryDirect, the UK's largest online and mail order supplier of ironmongery products to the trade opened its new purpose-built 50 000sq ft premises in Basildon.

Celebrating the move to its new premises the company invited local dignitaries and suppliers to see Reg Bass, founder of the original hardware shop in Leigh-on-Sea, officially open the building with a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the occasion.

Shown cutting the ribbon, from left to right are Reg Bass, founder of the business; Wayne Lysaght-Mason, managing director and Chris Bass, director.

Mr Lysaght-Mason commented: "The move will enable us to accommodate thousands of new product lines and up to three times the current level of staffing, giving us room to keep up the momentum of our fast business growth to-date."

Mr bass added: "This is a significant day for us. Much has changed over the past 40 years, the business has certainly evolved and grown significantly but one thing that hasn't changed is our desire to provide the highest standard of service to our customers."
