Arson-hit Wickes re-opens

Published:  22 July, 2009

ESSEX: The fire-ravaged Wickes store in Goodmayes is to re-open on Saturday, 8 August.

The store was razed to the ground by fire in July last year in a suspected arson attack that also damaged other stores on the retail complex.

Saj Ghafoor, deputy customer service manager at Wickes, speaking to the Ilford recorder, said: "We have totally re-laid the whole front of the store, and have included new sections, as well as extending sections.

Wickes staff arrived last week to familiarise themselves with the new layout ahead of the relaunch of the new-look store next month.
