Pilgrim’s progress in Paris

BIRKENHEAD: Martin Pilgrim, a director at independent builders merchant Birkenhead Building & Roofing Supplies, has successfully ridden from London to Paris, helping to raise over £12 000 for Action Medical Research.
Mr Pilgrim, along with five friends and team-mates, Simon Roberts, Ian Smith, Alan Todd, Neil Caitens and Ryan Willis, covered 340 miles over four days along with 400 other riders.
“I am currently experiencing what must be some kind of mid-life crisis, taking part in various endurance events," commented Mr Pilgrim, "but this has been my toughest challenge to date. Not only was it very physically demanding but also very tough mentally – spending that long on the bike gives you too much time to think about how much it hurts.”
The team has helped raise £634,000 for Action Medical Research. The money raised offers hope to many thousands of families across the UK who are dealing with the trauma of a baby born too early, have a child affected by disability, or who are facing the challenge of caring for a child with a rare and devastating disease for which there is no cure.
It’s not too late to sponsor the team, their donation page is still open at www.action.org.uk/sponsor/martinpilgrim
