Autumn date for IoBM Building Skills Challenge

Published:  14 July, 2011

CAMBRIDGE: The Institute of Builders' Merchants is holding a Practical Building Skills Challenge Event at Cambridge Regional College on Wednesday 19 October.

The event for the seven teams of four people will include:

* Carpentry

* Brickwork

* Paving

* Painting

* Simple electrics – all within a set timescale.

"Candidates will benefit from increased product knowledge, enhanced confidence with customers, improved sales and service capabilities, gained through practical experience of installing some of the products they deal with on a daily basis," said Rebecca Mason, past president of the IoBM.

"The element of competition between teams will also provide valuable team building skills."

Prizes will be awarded for the best build and all attendees will be awarded a free year's student membership of the Institute of Builders' Merchants. The cost for the day including lunch will be £65 a person.

To enter a team, email Gill Sellick at admin@instbm.co.uk or telephone 01767 650662 for further information.
