Published:  14 July, 2009

NORTHAMPTON: Long-time Hanson customer, Travis Perkins, is offering the manufacturer’s latest bricks at its outlets.

Hanson Building Products has commences the production of sustainable bricks at its new, £50m brick factory in Leicestershire.

Now officially the largest 'soft-mud' brick plant in Europe, Hanson Building Products combines locally sourced recycled raw materials with low energy, low waste processes to make bricks with what is claimed to be the lowest embodied CO2 available.

With the capacity to produce 30 000 bricks an hour, the fully mechanised factory can operate with only 28 staff.

Travis Perkins chief operating officer John Carter said: "We are very impressed with Hanson's new streamlined low carbon manufacturing process in Measham which produces bricks not only of such consistent high quality, but which are also from sustainable sources."
