Vinci takes £50m West Bromwich Tesco work

Published:  08 April, 2011

LONDON: Vinci has won the contract to build a £200m Tesco-led regeneration scheme in West Bromwich, reports Enquire.com

The contractor had beaten Bam Construct, Galliford Try and Simons Construction, which were all chasing the project to redevelop the town centre, the web site said.

The scheme includes a Tesco store, shops and cinema, and includes a strong civils package covering the realignment of the ringway road, drainage, a new public square, and car park.

The superstore will occupy 13 000m2, the supermarket giant's biggest UK store.

To help secure planning, Tesco has funded a new police station in West Bromwich, now nearing completion, at a cost of around £7m.
