Sign of the times - Interbuild cancelled

Published:  02 March, 2011

BIRMINGHAM: The Interbuild exhibition has been cancelled despite rebranding the event as Best. The organiser, Emap said "could not guarantee the scale or scope of event that customers demand and expect."

The show is an annual industry tradition at the NEC in Birmingham but has shrunk as Emap struggled to sell space. The publisher confirmed: "Built Environment Solutions & Technologies (BEST), Interbuild Onsite and Glassex will not run in 2011.

Two related shows, InstallerLive and The Infrastructure Show, will take place as planned at the NEC in October. A new show is planned for next year with details promised later in the year.

Richard Baker, managing director of Emap Connect Construction said: "We believe this is the right decision at the right time. Market conditions are very tough and the industry needs a more targeted event which reflects the challenges of today's UK construction industry."
