BMF Supports National Apprenticeship Week

LONDON: The BMF applauds the Government’s commitment to Apprenticeship training, and is encouraged by yesterday’s announcement on the creation of 100 000 new apprenticeship places.

The UK merchant industry is already well aware of the value of Apprenticeship training, with more than 250 individuals every year improving their skills and adding value to their employers’ business via the BMF Apprenticeship programme alone. But initiatives like National Apprenticeship Week really help draw employers’ and individuals’ attention to the value of structured on-the-job training, says BMF apprenticeship manager Nina Royle.

“We find companies and employees alike are amazed that we can train people within their own workplace, help them do their jobs better, help identify individual needs and individual opportunities, and deliver a recognised qualification that’s equivalent to ‘GCSE’ or ‘A’ levels all at no cost to small employers,” Nina says. “It’s good news in these straitened times that employers can enjoy at least some of their tax back, as the cost of most Apprenticeships is underwritten by the taxpayer.”
