Energy companies to fund boiler replacement

SWINDON: Heating merchants could benefit as energy firm N-power pledges to fill the gap left by the government's suspended Warm Front scheme by offering green boiler grants to certain homes.

N-power is offering grants of 350 toward a new boiler and, along the same lines as Warm Front, the N-power Warm Home Grant will be available for residents aged 60 or over who own or privately rent their home.

The news comes after the government's Warm Front campaign was put on hold until at least April this year.

The company is the first energy supplier to offer this sort of grant and will keep the scheme open until the end of March when Warm Front applications are expected to re-open.

N-power says the grant can be used to help pay for installation of an A-rated energy efficient boilers.

Joan Coe, marketing manager for the Hometeam said: ""While Warm Front funding is on hold until April 2011, we felt it was vital to play our part in supporting the nation by offering our own 350 grant for residents replacing a boiler that is more than ten years old."
