Weyerhaeuser prepares for growth with European Team expansion

Published:  17 January, 2011

BELGIUM: Belgium-based Weyerhaeuser Products, the European wood products subsidiary of international forest products company, Weyerhaeuser, has expanded its technical sales team with the appointment of Robert Allinson as European product manager.

Having previously worked with Weyerhaeuser Europe, prior to the acquisition of Medite Europe by Coillte, Mr Allinson returns with extensive experience of the panels industry and increased market knowledge. Tasked with using this experience to develop the Weyerhaeuser distribution network as well as manage existing customer relationships, Mr Allinson joins the company as it prepares to double the volume of Lumin plywood into Europe.

Mr Allinson will primarily be responsible for Lumin plywood, Weyerhaeuser’s range of competitive, certified, environmentally friendly and socially responsible wood products from Uruguay. Commenting on his new role, Mr Allinson said: “This was a rare opportunity to become part of a company that has a clear vision for the future and is truly committed to the sustainable agenda. I have no doubt that it will be a challenging role, given the ambitious growth targets that are in place, but it is one that I am really looking forward to fulfilling.”

Having undertaken front line sales positions with companies such as LH Kennedy and Ridgeons, Mr Allinson is well versed in building strong customer relationships. As a member of the Institute of Wood Science and with BSc (Hons) in Forestry and Forest Products, Mr Allinson will draw on this technical ability to drive forward market and product development.
