UK: After entering the industry at 15 years of age and reaching many incredible milestones, area director Tom McArdle is celebrating an impressive 40 years with PTS and The BSS Group.
Mr McArdle first started his career straight from school to work for J & B Labone in Liverpool as branch assistant. He progressed to operations manager for Pennine area. In 1992, J & B Labone was acquired by The BSS Group plc, PTS’ parent Company.
Mr McArdle has a number of achievements to be proud of, including the opening of PTS Salford back in 1993, which is still the biggest branch in the merchant’s network of 320. Mr McArdle’s work was integral to winning a major contract with British Gas and so he became responsible for the whole team as the British Gas key account director.
Mr McArdle is now PTS area director for the North West Area and has even made his job a family affair with both his sons also working for PTS in different capacities. Commenting on his career to date, Mr McArdle said: “I’m extremely proud to have been with the BSS Group throughout my career as they have always been at the forefront of the heating and plumbing industry.
“I’ve been fortunate to work with some great people who’ve supported me every step of the way. Working with colleagues over a number of years and watching them progress and flourish has always been an incredibly rewarding part of my job. This industry is a great one to work in as there are new challenges every day and I’m looking forward to tackling some more in the years to come.”
