Craig completes his 52-week Snowdon challenge

Published:  31 December, 2010

CAERNAFON: Andrew Craig, manager of Travis Perkins in Caernarfon yesterday completed the last of his fund-raising climbs of Mt Snowdon raising money for Breast Cancer Campaign.

Mr Craig does a different challenge with Travis every year and it was at Christmas 2009 that his wife suggested he climb Snowdon every week in 2010.  Yesterday he did just that despite the exceptionally harsh winter.

Mr Craig originally hoped to raise about £1000, but the final sum will be nearer £15 000.

With all that climbing practice, Mr Craig said he can ascend Snowdon on his own in 60 to 90 minutes and get back down in about an hour and 40 minutes.

But he has frequently been joined by fellow fundraisers. "I took a group of about 20 people from Manchester. That took about eight hours, but they raised over £1400 for us," he said.
