Building trade boost for RNLI’s flood rescue team
Published:  21 October, 2010

UK: Flood rescue in the UK has received a major boost from Britain’s building trade following confirmation that Toolstation has signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the Royal National Lifeboat Institution to support the charity’s Flood Rescue Team.

Toolstation says that with ongoing incidences of extreme weather, the services of the FRT are being called on more and more. The team played a key role during last winter’s Cumbria floods, for instance, where they helped rescue more than 200 people.

Like all the services provided by the RNLI, the FRT is funded entirely by voluntary donations together with sponsorship from companies such as Toolstation.

“Toolstation is enjoying exceptional success across the UK and we were keen to become involved in something that offered national benefit,” said marketing director Neil Carroll.

“Our experience in the South West, where we have sponsored the Western Football League for several years, is that sponsorship is of enormous value to the community. The League assures the continued viability of local football clubs, in turn enabling their provision of ongoing training and activities for the young."
