MKM launches landscaping centre

EDINBURGH: MKM has launched a new garden landscaping centre at its Edinburgh branch, designed to boost summer sales by providing customers with information, advice and inspirational landscaping ideas.

Recognising the need for a dedicated sales centre, MKM enjoyed a successful opening weekend, welcoming customers from across the city, who experienced an array of activities, including a hog roast and children’s entertainer.

The 1000sqm landscaping display features Fusion outdoor balustrade from Richard Burbidge, decking, paving and a log cabin, from which customers can access Richard Burbidge’s free online planning service, Deckplanner, as well as receive information and advice from MKM staff.

Robert Graham, branch director of MKM Edinburgh, comments: “As one of the largest landscaping depots in Scotland, it’s important that we lead by example and set the standard for facilities and products in this sector. We take real pride in our landscaping area, employing a full time gardener to maintain the display, to attract visitors and also help customers to visualise what they can achieve in their gardens.

“We’ve made a sizable investment in the promotion and development of our garden landscaping centre and it has been great working with companies like Richard Burbidge, who have been really supportive of what we’re trying to achieve. For us, the Fusion system from Richard Burbidge is the best in the market and we’ve used it extensively on our new display.”

Catriona Nicholls, decking product manager for Richard Burbidge, adds: “It’s great to see one of our customers taking the initiative and developing a centre like this, which will not only help to boost outdoor product sales but will also encourage consumers to regard merchants as a source of gardening advice. Product displays that inform and inspire can have a measurable impact on sales of decking and balustrade and the centre at MKM really demonstrates the transformational effect outdoor balustrade can have on decking and patio areas.”

Richard Burbidge offers a wide range of outdoor balustrade systems, suitable for use in domestic and commercial applications. All are manufactured in line with the DeckMark quality and performance scheme operated by the Timber Decking Association, which provides independent confirmation of their quality and fitness for purpose.
