Wickes manager takes on volcano challenge

SCUNTHORPE: Dave Pearson, Wickes store manager is climbing four volcanoes in Ecuador to raise money for Leukaemia Research.

"I want to raise at least £2000 and we're hoping to raise about £1m as a company."

The volcanoes he will take on are Cotopaxi, North Illiniza, Imbabura and Chimborazo. The latter is 20 702 feet high.

"We need crampons as it'll be icy up there," said Mr Pearson. "We've got hammers to dig in and pull ourselves up, but it's mostly on paths."

He said the trip will be an opportunity to make good friends and strengthen their bond as a team. Mr Pearson is one of 20 Wickes employees from across the country who will take on the challenge when he sets out on 8 October.
