Online building sales success

ABINGDON: DIY and building supplies website Building Supplies Online reports booming sales growth in its first six months trading.

Graham Baldwin launched Building Supplies Online earlier this year to meet perceived door-to-door deliveries of building and DIY products delivered to your door. Building Supplies Online expects month-on-month growth of around 20% Mr Baldwin said.

"While the high street DIY stores are sufficient for small transportable items, this is not the case for larger items where they often charge in excess of £30 to deliver. We offer a standard delivery of 1-2 working days for £5.99 no matter where you are in the UK," he said.

It targets the consumer but the website has also attracted trade customers "unhappy with traditional builders' merchants". Mr Baldwin said: "Builders' merchants have not moved with the times in terms of technology and customer service. Trade customers want to order products quickly and get them delivered on time without having to place numerous phone calls. Builders' merchants simply do not offer this."

The web site plans to have 50 000 products in building materials, home, garden, and DIY sectors.
