Staff threatened with knife

Published:  20 August, 2010

HEYWOOD: Police are hunting a robber who threatened staff with a knife at Huws Gray Brick Matching on Bridge Street.

Shortly after midday on Thursday a man wearing a high-visibility jacket entered Huws Gray, went behind the counter and held a knife against the throat of the 47-year-old assistant and demanded money from her.

There was no till or cash, so the woman handed over her own purse.

The offender is a white man, aged between mid 20s and late 30s, about 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build. He has a faded tattoo on his left hand and was wearing a short-sleeved fluorescent jacket with a scarf over his face.

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0161 856 8632.
