JEWSON

Norwich

With builders increasingly relying on Jewson to offer produce advice and kitchen design services for their end customers, the aim of this renovation programme was to provide an attractive sales environment to meet the needs of both the trade and the consumer.

The new 4500sq ft showroom incorporates a comprehensive range from value products through to designer sanitary and kitchenware, featuring 16 kitchen designs and 13 bathroom displays.

The merchant offers a complete planning and design service at the showroom and employs four designers to ensure customers can spend time discussing their individual needs with experts.

Jewson’s staff also personally measure the dimensions of every customer’s kitchen to avoid mistakes at the early stages.

The customer service area in the showroom features a 42-inch flat screen television, so once the measurements have been entered into the system, customers are able to view a photo-realistic image of their exact kitchen or bathroom design before committing to the purchase.

Customers also receive a copy of the design image and a fully annotated floor plan to take home.

A child-friendly area next to the customer service desk in the showroom has proved to be a hit with parents.

As a result of all these changes, sales increased by 46% in 2006, compared to the previous year and in 2007, sales of bathroom furniture have significantly increased.

THOMPSON ASSOCIATED PLUMBING SUPPLIES

Hendon, Sunderland

TAPS of Sunderland’s bathroom showroom is an upmarket site, not normally associated with a plumbers’ merchant.

The main objective of this showroom was to be the best in the region, as well as providing a showcase for the City Bath Store chain.

“We felt it crucial to keep the core budget trade pottery separate from the upmarket bathroom showroom, to assist retail not to feel intimidated in a trade environment, but also to encourage the plumber to send his customer to his supplier.

“The trademark fish tank invites customers to a peaceful, tranquil environment; we display all leading manufacturers with luxury products such as whirlpool baths, steam rooms, plasma TV, mood lighting, spa music, all prices to suit all.

“The showroom is bright, clean, smooth, relaxing environment, with modern, contemporary twist.”

The showroom is also a one-stop shop, with suites, brassware and tiles all available onsite, alongside a free planning and design service. The company also offers disabled bathroom suites. Most of its roomscapes are plumbed in so that the products can be displayed to their full potential.

To round off the experience, TAPS has a children’s play area with TAPS’ own-brand sweets, a seating area with refreshments for retail customers to browse through brochures and – so that its valued trade customers are not be left out, they have their own refreshment/seating area to enable them to talk specifics with staff.
