Prison building programme cut

LONDON: Future opportunities in prison building will be drastically curtailed following justice secretary Ken Clarke cuts to the £4bn prisons budget.

The Financial Times reported yesterday that private contractors expect Mr Clarke to cancel most of the five new prisons planned by the previous Labour government.
