B&Q adds Ethical Award to honours list

LONDON: B&Q has won the Observer Ethical Business award. The award citation said…

"the company has a strong heritage in sustainability, which has spring-boarded it into making giant strides during 2009 achieving an absolute reduction of 16% CO2 against a 2006 baseline.

"B&Q has committed to becoming a One Planet Business – reducing its direct impact to sustainable levels and helping its three million customers achieve One Planet homes."

The winners of the 2010 Observer Ethical Awards, in association with Ecover, were announced at a ceremony in London last night.

The 8000 entries represent the enormous variety of solutions and ideas dealing with environmental and social justice in the UK said the organisers. "The winners demonstrated that extra ingenuity and creativity that caught the attention of our judges and set them apart from the intense competition."
