LONDON: B&Q is expanding the number of eco shops within its stores to include most outlets.
The Eco 'shop within shop' concept, staffed by trained advisers able to offer customers advice about "green DIY", was trialled at B&Q stores in Sutton and New Malden.
The move is part of B&Q's plans to raise "eco product" sales to more than £1bn and involves two new staff roles: Eco Advisors and Eco Experts.
B&Q's Eco Advisor qualification - an eco NVQ - is a UK first and will see staff qualified to City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Retail Skills (selling Eco products) standard enabling them to advise and help customers on eco products for their homes.
B&Q expects to have 1800 qualified advisers across the country by September.
B&Q Eco Experts are qualified to offer in store and at home consultations and provide homeowners with an Energy Performance Certificate.
