Travis staff threatened

SOUTH SHIELDS: A man is due in court today, accused of threatening Travis Perkins warehouse staff with a knife.

Paul Haigcross is alleged to have walked into Travis Perkins builders' merchants in Mitre Place, South Shields, armed with a knife, on Monday and threatening staff with the weapon.

Police were called and Haigcross was arrested, and charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon.

He is due to appear before South Tyneside magistrates today.
