Grafton chairman's pay down 300 000

DUBLIN: Michael Chadwick, chair of builders' merchant group Grafton, saw his remuneration package reduce to 661 000 in 2009, from 987 000 a year earlier.

According to the group's annual report, Mr Chadwick waived his entitlement to a pension allowance of 307 000 for 2009.

The total remuneration paid to Grafton's four executive directors declined from almost 3.3m in 2008 to 2.6m last year.

The group's non-executive directors received fees totalling 350 000, unchanged from 2008.

Grafton directors received no basic salary increases since 1 July 2007.
