Ecogen makes official UK debut

Published:  21 April, 2010

WARWICK: Showcased at this year's Ecobuild event in March, Baxi's Ecogen – the first commercially available micro-CHP unit for the home – was officially launched this week.

Mark Kelly, Baxi Group's chief executive officer said: "This is the first wall-hung micro-CHP unit which can be specified by local authorities, housing associations and private developers. It will help them meet Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, tackle fuel poverty issues more effectively and significantly cut carbon emissions."

In July, Baxi  is planning to launch a 'baby' biomass product of between 12-14kW. It is a 'system' unit, so will work like a normal central heating boiler, Mr Kelly reported. At Ecobuild, the unit received as many enquiries as the Ecogen.
