ELSTREE: Travis Perkins is one of 56 companies that includes IBM UK, McDonald, Metro, JD Wetherspoon, and Zenith Optimedia, commended for their efforts to demonstrate good human resources practices by the Corporate Research Foundation (CRF).
Steven Veenendaal, chief executive officer of the CRF Institute, said: "The year 2009 will be remembered as one of the most challenging in living memory. As the UK emerges from the recession, companies recognise that in order to improve their productivity and profitability, they must continue to attract and retain the best talent."
In order to be named a top employer, the companies were given scores in the areas of pay and benefits, training and development, career development, working conditions and company culture.
Based on independent research by the CRF Institute, Travis Perkins was certified as one of Britain's Top Employers for 2010. Travis Perkins scored five stars, the maximum possible, for career development, working conditions, and company culture; and four stars for training and development, pay and benefits.
A poll conducted on the CRF Institute's website highlighted that pay and benefits are the most important factors in an employer for 32% of people questioned.
