In-store battery collection commences

UK: Merchants selling over 32kg of batteries to consumers are now obliged to take back the used batteries. The battery compliance schemes are being set up to enable a nationwide in-store collection infrastructure.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has devised a means for businesses to calculate the weight of batteries they sell in any one outlet on its website.
