Parr showroom challenges B&Q

Published:  28 May, 2009

STOCKTON ON TEES: Joseph Parr has opened its showroom and depot – less than 10m from the entrance of B&Q.

The 4000sq ft builders' merchant showroom will complement the company's three-acre timber and builders' merchant site on the Portrack Industrial Estate.

"The new showroom is a huge advert for our company," said managing director David Anderson.

"It is a presence on one of Teesside's largest and busiest retail parks. Our customers can now view, choose and order in comfort and safety a range of products not on display under one roof anywhere else in the area.

"Our staff are on hand seven days a week, offering years of merchant expertise on a wide range of products, available to both trade and the public," Mr Anderson commented.

Although general merchant trade is down, he said there is was an unbeatable opportunity "to have something in place that is not only generating business from the day it opened, but that will also be ready and capable of handling the upturn when it comes."

Established on Teesside in 1972, the Joseph Parr Group of Companies has other sites in Bootle in Liverpool, Port Sunlight on the Wirrall, Stoke, Rochdale, Oldham, Edinburgh and Broxburn. The merchant's group turnover in excess of £40m.
