LONDON: A special Parliamentary Luncheon was held today by the National Home Improvement Council specifically aimed at promoting water conservation and energy efficiency.
Key for merchants among the issues raised was the Water Efficiency Product Labelling Scheme (WEPLS) which has been upgraded with more intuitive label designs, more product categories and a web-based database of water saving products.
Said Yvonne Orgill, chief executive of the Bathroom Manufacturers Association: "The scheme is backed by the major bathroom manufacturers, builders' merchants and the big national DIY stores."
Additionally, Ideal Standard has introduced a Water Efficiency Calculator to help provide solutions in homes, while British Gas is working with consumers and communities to reduce energy use.
