Wickes raises £1m for Leukaemia research

Published:  01 February, 2010

LONDON: Wickes raised £110 000 from a charity dinner to reach its charity fundraising target of £1m for Leukaemia Research.

The money was raised at a charity dinner held at the Science Museum attended by 400 of the company's suppliers.

Jeremy Bird, Wickes managing director said: "It's been a momentous year of achievements, with colleagues taking on marathons, organising fun days and even climbing Kilimanjaro to raise money for Leukaemia Research. To get to the £1m mark is fantastic, especially as it's our first ever charity partnership: it's a real testament to the generosity of our colleagues, customers and suppliers."

The partnership between Wickes and Leukaemia Research started in October 2006 and supported since then by Wickes staff organising charity events to collect money.
