Launch of Infrastructure UK
Published: 17 December, 2009
LONDON: The government has announced the widely anticipated establishment of Infrastructure UK to give advice on national infrastructure programmes over the next 50 years.
It will be chaired by Paul Skinner the ex-chairman of Rio Tinto and the current Partnerships UK chief executive James Stewart will move on secondment to work as IUK’s new chief executive.
One of its immediate roles is to develop a strategy for the UK’s infrastructure over the next five to 50 years which will be published in the Budget 2010 in April.
This long term approach is something the Association has consistently asked for and we will want to input to the work of the new body in preparing this Strategy.
