Specialist way to ease credit logjam for timber

Published:  07 December, 2009

LONDON: The timber industry will soon be able to benefit from a new online credit forum, which has been launched by market specialists, Graydon UK.

The online forum, which will also include regular face-to-face meetings, has the backing of the Timber Trade Federation.

Designed to provide the most up-to date information on current and potential customers, the credit forum allows members to report credit concerns, instantly updating other companies. The alerts will be supported by a dedicated team of investigating analysts.

The forum follows pressure from the industry for a robust credit system following industry's well-reported issues with credit insurers over the past two years.

John White, chief executive of the Timber Trade Federation, said: "The industry has a real and immediate need for a service of this nature. I'm delighted that the TTF has been able to help create what will, no doubt, become a valuable tool for wood businesses up and down the country."
