Chandlers gets certified

EAST SUSSEX: Chandlers Building Supplies has obtained certification from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Programme for the Endorsement of Certified Forests (PEFC) for its responsible management of its timber supply chain.
The internationally recognised labels guarantee that the trees that are harvested are replaced or allowed to regenerate naturally. It is also the only wood certification scheme endorsed by the major environmental charities, including WWF, Greenpeace and The Woodland Trust.
Richard Skinner commercial manager at Chandlers commented: "We feel it is extremely important that timber building products are sourced from forests that are managed with an acute environmental awareness. It is important that we endeavour to protect the environment. This accreditation ensures that the majority of timber products supplied by Chandlers are sourced from highly controlled environments and are tracked through every stage in the supply chain from the forest to the final user."
Every year, an area half the size of the UK is cleared of natural forests on every continent.
These forests, which once covered most of the planet, are irreplaceable and their loss has profound economic, social and environmental impacts.
For this reason, the FSC is committed to finding solutions to the problems created by bad forestry practices by protecting the interests of indigenous people with consideration for the environment and the natural habitats of thousands of species.
For a building supplier who can provide high quality products with the reassurances of responsible resourcing, head to Chandlers for a wide range of FSC and PEFC certified timber that guarantees that our forests will be protected in the future.
