Thieves target merchant

LANCASHIRE: Thieves stole rolls of lead from a Preston builders' merchants.

The burglars cut the fence to enter Builders Supplies West Coast depot on Chain Caul Way in Ashton-on-Ribble, between 5pm on November 5 and 7am the next day.

A police spokesman said: "This was an unusual crime which again occurred during the evening of Bonfire Night, a time when more local people than usual would have been out."
