NMBS show is 'networking triumph'
Published:  15 May, 2009

TELFORD: The National Merchant Buying Society's annual trade show was either "the best ever" or "not as good as last year", depending on whom you asked. Whatever the comments, one thing that everyone Builders' Merchants News spoke to agreed on was that the show filled a very necessary opportunity to network on a grand scale. "This event is a protracted and welcome meet the merchant day," was one comment. Another hailed the show as "a networking triumph".

The event also attracted supplier members' top brass. Managing directors, commercial directors, sales and marketing directors were all present.

Every year, NMBS and Builders' Merchants News join forces to present a 'best stand at the show' prize.

This year, the accolade went to Forest Garden, for its simple, sustainable message: wood is a good medium for building. A magnum of champagne and a certificate were presented to the team.

NMBS has not been immune to the recession. The Society reluctantly had to cut 25% of staff this year.
