Britain's Best loved builder visits Lafarge Bristol

Published:  30 October, 2009

BRISTOL: Lafarge Plasterboard, one of the UK's leading plasterboard and drylining systems manufacturers, has welcomed TV builder Tommy Walsh to its Bristol headquarters to film an episode for a new series on the Discovery Channel, which aired last night.

Mr Walsh is heading a programme called Fix Your House for Free with reclamation expert, Liam Collins.

A keen recycler, Mr Walsh is convinced that there is too much good material being thrown away.

Using materials from reclamation yards, and material that is not resellable, the men are helping five families realise their dream building project – whether it be an extension, loft conversion or mezzanine bedroom – by providing all of the materials for free.

To support him with his challenge, both Lafarge Cement and Lafarge Plasterboard have supplied materials, which resulted in Mr Walsh visiting Lafarge Bristol to see how plasterboard is manufactured and to learn more about the manufacturer's recycling methods and services, the key topic for the show.

The series is being aired this autumn on the Discovery Realtime and Discovery Shed channels.
