EAST RENFREWSHIRE: Vandals deliberately started a fire at Rossco Builders' Merchants in Holehouse Brae, Neilston, over the weekend.

Local newspapers estimated damage at the merchants yard at £20 000. Several vehicles, including a lorry, were also set alight.

The blaze at the building and timber supplier that specialises in timber decking and fencing was reported late on Sunday evening and two fire appliances, one from Barrhead fire station and the other from Paisley, attended the incident.

Police confirm they are investigating the incident as wilful fireraising. Anyone with information should contact Barrhead police on 0141 532 6200.
